Permanent Residency (PR) in Canada allows non-citizens to live and work in the country permanently. PR holders enjoy many benefits, such as access to healthcare and the freedom to work or study anywhere in Canada, but they cannot vote or hold certain government jobs. To keep their status, they must live in Canada for at least two out of every five years. After meeting certain requirements, PR holders can apply for Canadian citizenship.
